Screen Play

Screenplay for Subliminal Religion:

ACT ONE

EXT. OUTSIDE THE SCHOOL’S ENTRANCE – OVER THE TOP SHOT

He goes inside the school and walks to the entrance of the room. He wears his blue and black uniform. He walks in the room and mingles. The teacher tells them to form a line outside the room. They face the flag and recite the national antem

ABOU TAREK is in the middle of the group and he puts his right hand to his chest. He starts singing.

[Panoramic shot of the class. Then the camera zooms to Abou Tarek. Then Cuts to the Flag of the school. The Banner reads, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” under a large cross]

CUT TO:

INT. CLASSROOM

The kids are playing around and are talking to each other. Some of them brought their own toys and kid#1 pulls out his gameboy

KID #1

Hey guys, look at my new toy

KID #2

[invites the other kids over] Whoah, looks so cool! What game are you playing >

Abou Tarek hears the call of the kid and comes over. Approaches the huddle while listening to their conversation.

KID#1 (CONT’D)

Yeah, it’s Gameboy color. It’s the latest one. I also got this POKEMON blue version.

KID #3

Come on turn it, turn it on. Let’s see hot it works.

ABOU TAREK

Guys scoot over a bit so I can see

KID #2

Wait, this is only for us. What do you think you’re doing?

ABOUT TAREK

I want to see the new toy

KID #1

Not allowed

ABOU T.

Why Not?

He tries to step closer and stands on his toe to see over the group of the boysto see the toy.

KID #1 (CONT’D)

Because you are Muslim and that is all there is to it. Now stop bothering us and leave us alone.

About Tarek looks confused and looks at the group with a hard stare

KID #1:

Stop Arguing, just know that Muslims are not allowed to huddle with us.

[Camera slides to Abou Tarek]

He has a blank expressionless face (confusion in his emotion). Camera zooms into his face, which zooms further towards his eyes. The Screen fades

ACT TWO

The Setting takes place into a small Private Catholic School. Abou Tarek, now in his teens is outside a class.
