As citizens of the United states we have experienced violations of civil liberties that inhibit our development through the patriot act, and a few other “freedom” act. In Little Brother Corry Doctorow takes it to another level with extensive investigation to anyone who has an abnormal pattern. It would be an interesting machinima to track the digression of a citizen of San Francisco as he is hindered by policies but in place by the Department of Homeland Security and further more how the actions of the x-neters, such as the tagging and the “riots”, make the matters worse. The
Character would begin with a happy family and a steady job. Then the New Report of the terrorist act would start the downward spiral. First the incident would be the character arriving late to work one day implying that it becomes recurring incident. Next he would be pull over and questioned by the DHS. Then another day he would arrive late to work to find a pink slip. Another scene would show bills piling up. His wife and child would leave. He would become debilitated in some way. Try to declare bankruptcy but because of the business with x-neters he his financials don’t qualify. Eventually the character would be shown standing on the roof of a tall building as the new report of the DHS being shut down is aired. Using minimum dialogue. Most of the audio would be voiceovers of different news reports of the events that are causing the action of the Department of Homeland Security and in turn causes the citizen to digress and eventually completely break down. The presentation of the different news reports would illustrate the point that not only are there more facets to history than we see in text books but also that the people in power, or the “victors” to use Sir. Winston Churchill’s words, are the ones who write the most prevalent history.
