2/9

Looked at the machinima videos on http://nwn.blogs.com/nwn/2010/12/top-second-life-machinima-2010.html and the No Russian video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pmt9Xk-PIGE&feature=fvsr.

I thought the No Russian video was pretty cool as it made use of the scripted events in MW2 and essentially retold part MW2's plot in a cinematic way that just made sense. Unfortunately with Second Life we probably won't have scripted events like the one's found in the MW series.

Hanging Out To Dry, The story that disappeared on the earth, etc. made use of music which strongly complimented the visuals within the video. Hanging Out To Dry's use of crazy, wacky props, dance moves, and camera positioning really sold the feel of the music that it accompanied. Tstdote's use of emotionally sad music meshed powerfully with the visuals presented in the video making the viewer feel for the android/robot as it lives out it's last few minutes on earth remembering the past it had. Good music can really push a Remix to greatness.

Man vs. Second Life 2 is a hilarious documentary/parody of second life following the main character as he hunts down newbs. The use of a camera man and narration seem like useful tools to use in a Remix. If we wanted to emphasize comedy the use of accented/silly narrator, dialogue, transitions, etc. are things to look at.

Ideas for Machinima: We could possibly try to make a what if story where we see what happens to our world if the events in LB are parralled in this world.
